For as long as she could remember, Becca dreamed of a dominant man to take her in hand, and Zac, the handsome Marine she met at her sister’s wedding, filled the role with aplomb… for a weekend. Then the fling came to an end, Zac went off to war and died for his country, and Becca learned she carried a child who would be born without a father.

Seven years later, Becca has done her best to move on and forget about Zac… until the day she walks into her kitchen to find the man she believed she would never see again locked in mortal combat with her son’s nanny, and realizes everything she thought she knew about Zac was a lie.

Like all Black Ops agents, Zac doesn’t exist in any government record. His life is a series of deadly missions, and relationships of any kind are unsanctioned. But he keeps one secret. He watches over Becca, the beautiful daughter of a rogue agent, and Parker, the six-year-old boy he fathered that fateful weekend. When he spots a known assassin in their apartment posing as a nanny, he’s forced to reveal himself and take them to safety… whether Becca likes it or not.

While Becca may have enjoyed his dominance once, bending her to his will again may not be quite so easy. He is determined to keep her safe, however, and if a long, hard spanking is required, he is more than willing to oblige. Having Becca over his knee rekindles more than his passion, though; even when the immediate danger has passed, he finds it much more difficult to “ghost out” on his family again. Must he resign himself to protecting those he loves from afar, or can he find a way to be the man Becca needs and longs for, the man who is worthy of her submission and her love?

Becca spends an amazing weekend with a “marine” Zac, knowing she won’t see him again only to wind up pregnant. Seven years later, after him supposedly being dead he turns up unexpectedly and swears she’s in danger. Becca must learn to trust him and let him into their lives. Zac needs to keep his family safe and will do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Not what I was expecting, but an enjoyable read. There was parts I felt off and just couldn’t connect with it.

I loved Parker!! He’s such a smart kid, brave, loving, caring, daring and totally cool. I’d have pee’d my pants if I was put in his situation, he rocks! And I totally want his sneakers 😉

I didn’t connect with Becca OR Zac. Becca just didn’t have a backbone at all, everything scared her and she was always crying. Yet she loved getting a rough, hard spanking. There was soooooooo much spanking! It even made my butt tingle a time or two, but she seemed to enjoy it.

Zac is a ghost, part of a special black-ops team kept under the radar. That’s still no excuse for leading Becca and Parker to believe he’s dead! I thought it was good of him to fight to be in their lives but it was a little too late and my attitude soured towards him as soon as he re-appeared. At least he’s willing to die for them!

There was definitely some good parts that made my eyes wet and giggle aloud causing some funny stares to come my way but there was also some rough parts and not enough connection between the main characters. AND there was too many secrets, it just kept me frustrated.

Serena knows a few simple things. She will always be owned by a warlock. She will never have freedom. She will always do what her warlock wishes, regardless of how inane, frivolous, or cruel it is. And if she doesn’t follow the rules, she will be tarnished. Spelled to be bald, inked, and barren for the rest of her life—worth less than the shadow she casts.

Then her ownership is won by a barbarian from another country. With the uncertainty that comes from belonging to a new warlock, Serena questions if being tarnished is really worse than being owned by a barbarian, and tempts fate by breaking the rules. When he looks the other way instead of punishing her, she discovers a new world. The more she ventures into the forbidden, the more she learns of love and a freedom just out of reach. Serena longs for both. But in a society where women are only ever property, hoping for more could be deadly.

Serena is owned by her father and when she turns seventeen she is sold to another warlock. She will always be owned, never have freedom. Her ownership is own by an Envadi, a barbarian. Life as she knew it changes, giving her more freedom than she’s ever had but will it come at a price?

Wow, I loved this story, it’s so different from previous books ive read, it was a nice change and so compelling. I was dragged into the story as if I were there, it was like watching a movie, seeing everything play out in front of me.

Serena is a strong woman. She does what she can to protect her younger sisters from harm, taking their places for punishment. She isn’t afraid to stand up for herself and what she believes in, even knowing she could be punished for it. She’s brave, outspoken, courageous and loving. A great main character!

Zade, Serena’s new owner is a compassionate character and not at all what I expected. He is a big man and looks intimidating but looks can be deceiving! He’s a kind, honourable, forgiving, protective character with a big heart. I loved him, there was times I questioned it but he always pulled through.

The ending was not what I was expecting at all, the twists were totally unexpected which was awesome as I had no clue it was coming. My guesses of how it would end were completely off and I’m glad as it was so much better than I imagined.

You Are Mine is a great story, I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to read the next installment Mine to Spell along with the prequel Mine to Tarnish!

**Beauty From Love is an adult contemporary novel and is not intended for younger readers due to mature content.

Chapter One
Laurelyn McLachlan

This is an unprecedented moment. I’m awake before Jack Henry, studying his sleeping figure—it’s a fine one—but that’s not what makes this morning a new experience. I’m waking next to him as my husband.
Wow. I did it. I married a man who propositioned me a year ago, asking me to be his companion for three months. His idea of our pairing deciphered into something much different back then—an offer of noncommittal sex in exchange for the time of my life. Translation? I agreed to be his whore. There, I admit it, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made regardless of what kind of label we place upon it. Now he’s my husband—forever mine—and I couldn’t be happier.
No number fourteen for him. Ever.
We began as strangers—as most couples do—but our beginning was so much more complicated. That simple word makes me giggle each time I hear or say it now. There’s never a time I don’t recall the freakish control my husband displayed when he told me he was a man who didn’t do complicated. Damn, was he ever wrong. I turned his world on its head. To know I hold that power over him makes me feel invincible. And adored.
Some would consider our inception into this whirlwind a perverted one. Even I did in the beginning, but then we became so much more than either of us intended. Now we’re Mr. and Mrs. Jack Henry McLachlan and this is the beginning of the rest of our lives. We’re setting out into the world to write our own story—in stone, never sand.

Review: Grasping at Eternity (Kindrily #1) by Karen Amanda Hooper

Leave it to Maryah Woodsen to break the one rule that will screw up eternity: Never erase your memories.

Before entering this life, Maryah did the unthinkable—she erased. Now, at seventeen years old, she’s clueless that her new adoptive family has known her for centuries, that they are perpetually reincarnated souls, and that they have supernatural abilities. Oh, and she’s supposed to love (not despise) Nathan, the green-eyed daredevil who saved her life.

Nathan is convinced his family’s plan to spark Maryah’s memory is hopeless, but his love for her is undying. After spending (and remembering) so many lifetimes together, being around an empty version of his soulmate is heart shattering. He hates acting like a stalker, but has no choice because the evil outcast who murdered Maryah in their last lifetime is still after her.

While Maryah’s hunter inches closer, she and Nathan make assumptions and hide secrets that rip them further apart. Maryah has to believe in the magic within her, Nathan must have faith in the power of their love, and both need to grasp onto the truth before they lose each other forever—and discover just how lonely eternity can be.

X-MEN meets MY NAME IS MEMORY in Karen Amanda Hooper’s latest young adult release.

**A copy was provided for review purposes**

Maryah is an average seventeen year old girl, or so she thinks. When she moves in with her adoptive family she learns things about herself and those around her she never thought possible. Maryah must remember who she was so she can reach her full potential as an Element.

Wow, Grasping at Eternity is such an emotional read, I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. I haven’t laughed or cried so much reading a book in a long time, my face is covered in mascara now that I’ve finished :/ haha.

And I love the cover! Teal is my favourite colour and it has lots, I love the title and peacocks! Considering how much peacocks are mentioned in the book it’s nice to see them on the cover, and they’re so pretty!

Maryah is an average seventeen year old girl, at first but things seem to happen to her that can’t be normal. She’s confused and blames it on believable things such as an injury to the brain so her mind’s playing tricks. Sometimes it felt like she was so slow to catch on, I was like HELLO Maryah it’s not that hard to see what’s going on, open your bloody eyes, please!

Nathan bless his little (or not so little) cotton socks! I can’t imagine the pain he was in seeing his soulmate only for her not to have any idea who he is or what they mean to each other. I felt like my heart was getting ripped out my chest at parts, it’s so saddening. And his disbelief she won’t remember him EVER drove me nuts, it’s like HAVE A LITTLE FAITH! Jesus.

My feelings were all over the place when I was reading and still are now that I’ve finished. It took a while for me to get into it, the first few chapters but once I did my iPad (kindle is dead) stayed glued to my hands as much as possible. 🙂

Grasping at Eternity is a great read, it’s warming, heartbreaking, funny, cute and full of twists and cool superpowers. If your a fan of Paranormal Romance and you haven’t already read it give it a whirl!

Emily Anderson and Reed Alexander are living with pasts they cannot escape.

Emily moved to New York City seeking a fresh start, intending to focus on her career and to keep a low profile.

Reed returns home to New York City after two years, haunted by the same things that pushed him away years ago.

When Reed and Emily meet, their connection is undeniable, but Emily keeps her feelings hidden. Falling in love is the last thing on her mind and she knows the danger it may bring not only to her, but to Reed as well. Reed isn’t as reluctant, but he knows that the demons he’s fighting could destroy Emily.

The harder they try to resist one another, the deeper they fall in love, and the more complicated their lives become.

In the end, they realize that truly loving someone may mean letting them go… and that’s the hardest part.

Ignoring the pain, I continued to kick, hoping to get him off me. I continued to reach to get a better hold on the ladder. With my next kick, I felt one of my legs spring free from his grasp. I glanced back, coiled my leg back as far as it would go, hoping to gain as much force as possible, and then let it go, hitting him directly in the face. He stumbled back against the wall, yelling and screaming for Jason and Eric. It was now or never. I had to get away. Reaching again, I grabbed the bar with both hands and pulled myself through the small opening. Our eyes met for just a moment before I took off down the fire escape.

The next few seconds were a blur as the blood coursed through my veins. I flew down the ladder and jumped off the railing before it even reached the bottom. I knew every second counted. At any moment, Jake and his men would be coming around the corner and I wouldn’t be able to fight them all off. I hit the ground with a thud and felt the jarring impact move up my legs and spread into my back. I stumbled forward and ran as fast as I could.

The streets were empty, dark. Running as fast as I could, I scanned for anyone to help me, for a cab. I would’ve settled for any sign of human life at that point. Yet there was no one.

Every few seconds, I looked over my shoulder, expecting to see the three of them chasing after me. Deep down, I was thankful that they weren’t back there, but I couldn’t help wondering where they were. There was no way he would give up that easily.

I had always wondered, though, if my mom’s words of wisdom were finite – if they applied to everyone. Maybe those who had found their one great love were the lucky few, and maybe the rest of us would have to settle for less than earth-shattering.”

Unfortunately for her, the world can’t handle the strange or unusual. Life of a Blogger #1: Celebrity Crushes

Life of a Blogger

Life of a blogger is hosted by Jessi @ Novel Heartbeat where we share stuff about ourselves outside of blogging.

This one is so exciting! I’ve got so many but here’s two of each!

Male Crushes

Gerard Butler

Gerard Butler is my main crush! I absolutely love him and would marry him at the drop of a hat! I love all his films and have seen them all many times, he’s just so hot and rugged looking! I picture him a lot when reading too :/

Gamer, Law Abiding Citizen, Olympus has Fallen, Coriolanus, The Bounty Hunter and The Ugly Truth are all amazing and he’s in every one of them!

Paul Walker

Yes I know Paul Walker is dead but I’ve crushed on him for years so he has to count. I remember when I was younger, I asked Santa for Paul for Christmas, I was heartbroken when he wasn’t under my tree, and I asked for him every year after that and still nothing. But seriously, he’s hot and I love love love cars so him being in the Fast and Furious’s OMG,  and Running Scared, anyone seen that? It’s a bloody brilliant film! I just love him, enough said!!

Girl Crushes

PinkPink is my main girl crush, her music moves me so much, her voice is magical. Whenever I’m in a shitty mood I put my headphones on, put pink on full volume and chill out, she always makes me feel better. I went to see her I’m not dead tour a few years ago, earlier that day (bonfire night) I walked across a field and stood on a piece of wood, it had a nail sticking out and went straight through my foot. I love her that much not even that could stop me going (though I did get a tetanus shot).

im even contemplating a pin-up tattoo of her for my thigh, I’ve always wanted one but I think having her face on it would be awesome! Maybe with some lyrics surrounding it 😀

Kate BeckinsaleKate Beckinsale is my other girl crush, but only in the underworld movies. She’s just a badass and looks hot in leather (my other half believes I have a leathers fetish but I disagree). And guns…. she looks hot with guns and weapons of any kind too. She’s also got a beautiful smile and a natural beauty, she doesn’t have to try to be pretty, she just is.

Yeah, so that’s my celebrity crushes, who are yours? 🙂
