A deadly game of hide and seek.

With blood still on her hands, Samantha Matthews is on the run, running from dark secrets and a man she prays to God will never find her. Running and hiding, just to stay alive. She had no choice but to run, to leave, to hide and forget about her life before. When Samantha believes she’s gained enough distance from her past and her demons, she stops running, hoping to find her future in the heavily wooded area of the Adirondack Mountains, a place she never expected to encounter a man with secrets as dark and as sordid as hers.

Kade Grayson is hiding, not from the demons after him, but from himself and from the entire outside world, wishing every day he could have just died. Arrogant and domineering, he’s tormented and terrorized by his past, seeing nothing good for his future. With the ghosts of his past still haunting him, he has exiled himself to a life of solitude, only living for his words and through his stories.

Until her.

An undeniable attraction, turns into hate and then ultimately obsession, an obsession that grows into a powerful story of love and redemption.

Will the bond they have begun to build between them grow stronger than the tragedies that have scarred both of their lives? Or will they allow their demons to consume them?

**This book is a full length Adult Contemporary Romance and is intended for mature audiences due to strong language and sexual content.

Samantha Matthews runs from her life, leaving it behind her with the help of her best fried Jennifer. After driving for seven long hours they stop at a bar in the middle of nowhere. Believing they’d put enough distance between them they stop running. Kade has lived a half life, traumatised from his past he’s afraid to let anyone in, never letting anyone close…until Sam.

Samantha was an amazing character. So calm and collected when facing a storm. On the outside it looks like nothing fazes her but on the inside she’s screaming. Scared her past is going to catch up to her and hurt the ones she cares about. She is so strong and caring, speaks her mind and tries to do what’s best even if it’s not what she wants.

Kade is a man with a horrific past, lone survive of a massacre, he’s stuck in a bad place. He may have survived but he is no longer the person he was. He’s dark and twisted. He doesn’t see things as normal people would. He’s devoid of emotion and prefers solitude. I wept for Kade a lot, the poor man. To have survived what he went through and feeling guilty for it would be torture. Hiding himself away from others because he believes it’s best for them, who can live like that? I loved Kade, he may be damaged but underneath it all he’s spectacular!!

Brutally Beautiful was so dark and twisted but heartwarming and beautiful at the same time, I guess that’s the point though eh? With the title and all. It’s definitely a book that will cause you to shed a tear or three, so much heartache and devastation, truly breathtaking.
