Title: The Dysfunctional Test
Series: Stand Alone
Author: Kelly Moran
Publication Date: September 24, 2013
“You are cordially challenged to a test of true love. “
Growing up in her large, crazy Serbian family, Camryn Covic became an expert at shutting down her emotions in order to maintain her sanity. But when she loses her apartment, her job and her boyfriend all in one day, she hits her breaking point.
Worse, if her family finds out she’s single “again,” her sister’s upcoming wedding will be a disaster. The bride-to-be has a plan, though. A plan that involves an old friend, a pretend relationship…and the probability of ending up in a padded cell. This time for real.
Troy Lanske agreed to the crazy plan only because, when he was a lonely foster child, Camryn was his lifeline. But she isn’t the idealistic girl he remembers. She’s become so jaded that she doesn’t even believe in love anymore.
He sets out to restore her faith in happily-ever-afters, but his plan backfires when the fake relationship begins to feel all too real. Falling for the one woman he can’t have could mean losing more than just his honorary family. He could lose everything.
Camryn loses everything in one day, her apartment, her job and her stupid boyfriend. She packs up and moves back home, and has her sisters wedding to attend. Not wanting to be laughed at she gets Troy, her brothers best friend to claim to be her boyfriend. But can they last a week of pretending or will it seem so real neither no longer know it’s a lie?
What a great tale Kelly weaves, the dysfunctional test is the first book I’ve read by Kelly Moran and it definitely won’t be the last. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so long or hard, to the point tears are streaming down my face and I have a stitch in my side. It was a funny as hell. One of my new favourite romance reads 🙂
Camryn hides her emotions well, people think she’s a tight-ass, ice Queen who doesn’t have any but she does, maybe more so than everyone else she just buries it deep. Looks can be deceiving and it’s true with Camryn. The poor woman, I felt so sorry for her. Can you imagine being the butt of every family joke? People laughing at you, making fun of you constantly? If I were Camryn I’d have walked away from the crazy bunch a longgggg time ago.
Troy *dreamy sigh* is not what he seems at all. So at first he’s made out to be a womaniser, it’s a little true I guess but it’s not that he doesn’t want to settle down he’s just waiting for the right person. He’s so amazing, I spent the majority of the book gushing all over him, he just seems perfect
My favourite character by far has got to be Emily, Camryn’s niece. She’s just amazing and repeats everything everyone says, but mostly the naughty words. Not only that but she doesn’t say it right. My favourites have got to be cockporn (popcorn) and Camryn got an erection (eviction). Hilarious!!!!
The story was awesome, a mixture of sexy and sweet and Troy is definitely book boyfriend material. He’s moved to the top of my list. A truly great read, all romance fans should definitely read The Dysfunctional Test. You won’t be disappointed I assure you!
